As an actor, director, teacher, and Shakespeare scholar for over 40 years, Gary Logan has guided generations of actors, enabling them to experience Shakespeare not as an academic artifact but as aliving thing, transforming Elizabethan verse into a language actors are able to inhabit fully. Through his unique outlook and approach, he reveals the vitality and humanity embedded in Shakespeare’s text, allowing us to hear it as vivid contemporary drama rather than distant poetry.
Currently the Professor of Speech and Dialects for the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was formerly the director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s MFA program at The George Washington University, Washington, DC, and Head of Voice & Speech for the Denver Center Theatre Company’s National Theatre Conservatory, Denver, Colorado. He was a longtime faculty member of Canada’s National Voice Intensive, Vancouver, British Columbia and Toronto, Ontario and is the author of The Eloquent Shakespeare: A Pronouncing Dictionary for the Complete Dramatic Works, with Notes to Untie the Modern Tongue (University of Chicago Press).
Gwendolyn Kelso is a professional actor, director and educator.
In 2012, she co-founded an ensemble-based theatre company in New York. Focused on elevating the voices of women in theatre, Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre produced multiple award-winning classic plays before transitioning to Expand the Canon - an advocacy movement dedicated to restoring plays by women and gender-expansive writers to their rightful place in theatre history. As an educator, Gwen has taught Shakespeare, movement and acting across the country, including Adelphi University, The University of Texas at Austin, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and more. At present, she is adjunct faculty at CMU School of Drama
in Pittsburgh.
Gwen is currently in her bird and garden era.
